Hi all -
Can someone explain what devices are and aren't getting continuity features, or not?

As I understand the 4S, iPod touch 5 and iPad 2 and 3 will not receive handoff and understandably as they lack the bluetooth needed for this to work.

However will they receive the SMS relay and phone relay? I don't see why not, as Bluetooth apparently is not an issue here.

Apple web site:

Continuity features are available on iPhone 5 or later, iPad (4th generation), iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPod touch (5th generation).
Looks like the made a last minute decision and dropped it all from the 4S.

I can't send sms via iPad, just says it can't be delivered but making ordinary cellphone calls on the iPad using the iPhone is working just fine. Anyone knows the solution to this?

Other forum members are suggesting that SMS relay and phone relay do work... just not handoff.

Would be really annoying otherwise.

Can you post links to these forums?
That's my most wanted feature of iOS 8 and I don't want to buy bigger phone. The funniest part is that iPhone 4S has Bluetooth 4.0 LE. They're just killing it.

I'm struggling to find it... it was a while back but I know I saw it :/

What's the point of this setting then? (iOS 8 GM on iPhone 4s). When i try to switch it on it says "FaceTime and iCloud must be signed in to the same Apple ID to use iPhone Cellular Calls". Hope there are serious technical reasons for excluding this for 4s... Would be really sad if they took it out just for the sake of forcing you to buy a new phone...

You need to wait for the popup on your iPhone that ask you to enable SMS relay from your iPad. It took a while for that popup to come to phone, but it works flawlessly once I enable it. I think there's a guide somewhere in this forum that let you force start the SMS relay popup.

Ah I realised that. Now it's working perfectly!
