I'm running iOS 8 beta 4 on one of my now-many fifth generation iPod touches. I've noticed that unlike iOS 7, which seemed to recognize what color the body of my iPod was and automatically set the wallpaper accordingly, the iOS 8 beta does not do that and gives me the same underwater background as pictured on all iOS devices. Did the iOS 7 beta do this too or was it color-assigned during the beta as well? (I wouldn't know; last year, I ran the iOS 7 beta on an iPad 2.) Out of curiosity, what is the specific mechanism that tells the OS which default background to assign on devices like the iPod touch and the iPhone 5c?

This is due to iOS 8's default being the water wallpaper. On iOS 7 beta the default was space, until the 5s came which was default Space, and the 5c and iPod touches had specific colored wallpapers, (dynamics as well)
