iOS 8 Notification Center Translucency- changed?

On my iPhone 6, I'm noticing that the translucency effect is actually a bit more transparent than it was on my iPhone 5, also running iOS 8. I can actually read text behind the Notification Center, whereas it used to be absolutely illegible. The Control Center transparency hasn't changed, however.

Is it just me, or is there something to this?
