iOS 9.1 - how to remove emoji button on keyboard?

This emoji button is annoying - I keep hitting it by accident, when I'm trying to hit the symbols. Is there a way to get rid of it? I've noticed that in some apps and at certain times the regular keyboard without the emoji button is used so I know it's available, I just can't see the rhyme or reason as to when it gets used and how to force it not to be. Help!

Settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboards > Press edit, and remove the emoji keyboard.

Thank you! I didn't realize the English and Emoji were separate things, so didn't realize I could delete just one of them.
