iOS 9 must slide to enter passcode with Smart cover

I know this isn't something major, but since I've updated my iPad Air to iOS 9 I now have to slide the lock screen to enter my passcode even though I'm using a smart cover. Before the update, each time I opened the smart cover the lock screen was immediately presented. Is anyone else having this issue?
