I just spoke with Apple and they were a bit confused about my question so I thought I'd check here:

If I delete an email on my mac, and two weeks later if I search for it using the search bar within the mail app, it'll show up and identify it as in the Trash mailbox.

If I search on my iPhone at the same time, the message will NOT show up. I learned that I need to manually go into the trash mailbox under the specific email account (by backing out of All Inboxes within the iOS mail app), and that will cause the trash mailbox to refresh for that account. THEN... if I go back to "all inboxes" and search using the search bar at the top, the deleted email will appear.

My confusion/complaint was that the trash mailboxes are continuously refreshed on the Mac but on the iPhone you need to know to back out of the main screen (all inboxes) and go to the specific trash mailbox and refresh?!

Do I have a bug somewhere or is this really the way it is?
