iOS apps in Mac

Hello,
I have all of my iOS apps (iPhone & iPad) in my iMac, in iTunes at apps category.
I update these third-party apps frequently but I'm not sure if this is necessary.
I don't even know why these apps are in the Mac.
My question is since the iOS apps updating in the iDevice itself can I delete all iOS apps who live in Mac with safety ?

The apps on your Mac is your security copy of your phone,do not delete it.
