Hi guys,
Apologies in advance as I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post this thread.
Issue:
Experiencing bluetooth audio sync/lag issues while watching videos. Primarily an issue with the iOS youtube app.
Background:
I am using an iPhone 7+ and have 2 bluetooth headphones. My first is the Sony SBH80 which is an around the neck style headphone. They support BT 4.2 and I do not experience any audio sync/delay issues. This is across the iOS youtube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime video apps etc.
My second set of headphones are a "truly wireless" style set of independent earbuds. I have the Zolo Liberty purchased via Amazon. These support BT 4.2 as well. By nature, these type of headphones operate on a slave/master set up. Where the right bud connects to the phone and the left bud in turn connects with the right bud. Given this setup I do understand that the technology behind it will often result in an audio sync/delay given there needs to be an artificial delay implemented so that the right/left buds can sync with each other. As such when I use these buds I do experience a 1-2 second sync/lag issues while watching video.
Question:
With that background aside. What I am curious about is when I use the truly wireless buds I only seem to experience the sync/lag when I use the iOS youtube app. When I try Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime I do NOT see the audio delay. From my google searching I can't seem to find a clear explanation. I found some posts claiming that some apps like Netflix may have something built into the app to recognize potential audio delays and compensate accordingly to properly sync the video and audio. It does also seem like most people primarily have this sync/delay issue with the iOS youtube app.
Does anyone have more information about this? Is this something that in theory could be corrected IF google were to implement a similar change with their youtube app? I know this might be a non issue to most people however I watch youtube during my daily commute on the train and this is a big nuisance. I would just chalk it up to a trade off of the convenience of truly wireless earbuds however the fact that it only appears to be an issue with the youtube app is what has me confused.

Sorry for the long winded post! I just wanted to include all the information. Much thanks to anyone who took the time to read or can provide any further information.
