Is there an iOS emulator that runs on OS X?

I used to have iPads (original and 1st mini), but I gave it up for a 6+ phone. Problem is, I have two subscriptions (and some other less important apps) that run on iPad only. I am trying not to have a proliferation of devices (right now, I have a Watch, 6+, and 13" rMBP, and a Kindle for just reading), and I would be fine with running iOS on my rMBP, especially because I am going to go back to a smaller phone.

Only if you're a developer and use the iOS simulator.
Always willing to poke at being a developer (I have a simple app in the works but not the time right now), but from what I understand, even with that emulator, it isn't possible to run Appstore apps using it. Wonder why someone hasn't written one....
