The title pretty much says it all. With iOS 11, Apple changed the functionality of Apple’s Smart Cover with the iPad. Now when the smart cover is closed “hey Siri” no longer responds or listens. This means for those of us that use their iPads as Siri mics for HomeKit, we now have to leave the smart cover open at all times, exposing the iPad’s screen to various household dangers, or lose the ability to use our iPad as a way to invoke “Hey Siri”.

At the very least, this change renders my Smart Cover useless, and will force me to replace my $79 leather Smart Case/cover with a 3rd party, “not smart” cover that won’t lock my iPad when I close it (which I like it to do). What a waste of money. Not happy.
