hey when the update goes live does it have to be performed off the native computer for the devices ? i currently dont have a working desktop PC as the pump on my watercooling burned out so only have my macbook pro and my ipad and ip4 both are linked to the desktops library. Will i be able to perform the update off the itunes on my mbp without loss of data ? or will i have to wait until the desktop is repaired ?

thanks guys !

You can normally update with any computer, but you run the risk of being unable to use your iPhone if something goes wrong.

Your iPhone's main backup will be stored on the desktop as well.

can you backup to the non native PC before updating ? or does that require syncing ? i guess i can do it with my ipad atleast

I think you can, although the backup feature works best with your "home" computer because your Music, Videos, Apps etc. will be stored on it.
