Universal iOS video player app that could be controlled from another device

Does anyone know of a video player app for iPad that could be controlled from an iPhone on the same LAN?

Scenario I’m thinking about is a car trip with an iPad playing videos, and the play functions being controlled from iPhones in front row. All devices connected to the same hotspot.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
