Like most of us nerds, I went nuts with widgets in the last week. But then I realized that my home screen widgets almost exactly replicated the complications on my watch. Calendar? Weather? Activity? Battery? Do I really them in both places?

Wondering if any other long-time watch users who rely heavily on complications aren't as widget-happy as everyone else.

I had the same thought when they were announced. At first I was really excited but learning that the widgets are not interactive, and more like watch complications has made me less enthusiastic. Still have a couple, and the ability to stack widgets is a nice implementation though.

I agree. That’s why I am not all hyped up about widgets. I see what I want on my watch already, that what I bought if for. I don’t need some big huge time stamp or date on my home screen. Thats what the watch is for.

I used to have watch face complications. I went with a Typograph watch face with the series 6 and haven’t missed the complications. As such, I appreciate having some widgets on my phone’s Home Screen. If I were still doing watch face complications, several of them would be different from the phone.

Good observation. I’d much rather look at my watch than pull my iPhone out of my pocket.

Phone widgets rose to prominence before smart watches existed. They are still nice to have, especially if you don’t own an Apple Watch. I think that’s why they‘re so important to the Android ecosystem.
