iOS4.2 for ATV2?

Apple press release - iOS4.2 will be available today (11/22/2010). No mention about anything for ATV2. Anyone know if this update will apply?

Seems it will include the Apple TV, Macworld is confirming this,


My hope is that it will fix the Sony / Phillips green screen HDMI issue....

With all the hub bub about the Beatles releases last week, I will be dumbfounded if they don't add iTunes LP to the AppleTV.

If you believe the Steve Jobs emails are legit, iTunes Extras/iTunes LP functionality is "coming soon" to the AppleTV v2 and other iOS 4.x devices.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone think this will be an over-the-air update? Or are we going to have to Sync the ATV through iTunes? I just find it interesting that no sync cable is provided for atvs, yet they would require you to plug it in to your computer. Any thought?

Of course you won't have to plug your AppleTV v2 into your computer. The update functionality is built into the OS, just like it was on the first generation hardware.

You are aware there is a software update option in the ATV settings menu right?

They'll add it to all iOS devices at once when they add it.

FYI - Apple TV Software 4.1 is based on iOS 4.2 before anyone starts freaking out that's it's still 4.1.
