Got an interesting problem here a friend of mine has an iPhone 3gs which she has recently upgraded to iOS4. The handset is an italian import (factory unlocked).

She has never used MMS before but wants to use it when she goes on holiday.

She is on the T-Mobile UK network and previously id spoken her though configuring all the APN and MMS settings on her phone but the import/factory unlocked phones on non official carriers tend to lose their apn settings between firmware upgrades but its not normally a problem.

Anyway she calls me and says she cant send any mms, so my first thoughts were to check out the apns

But it seems since updating to IOS4 the Cellular Data Network option is gone from her phone. I know that orange uk on their own handsets hide this option but this a factory unlocked device.

From reading what i could find from google it would seem that a factory wipe would be in order but she really doesent want to lose anything (the problem is held by the backup,, however i have found out that you can install custom .ipcc carrier files which will configure the apns.

Is it possible to write these from scratch? i did have a look at an ipcc file i found on a forum which you can see has the apn details in there, but a lot of other stuff and strings of numbers which im guessing relate to the network? Anyone tried this?

Failing that is there an ipcc file out there there for T-Mobile UK?

Annoyingly its an MC model 3gs with no blobs saved or anything so using redsnow to jailbreak, fix the issue backup and then restore again minus the jailbreak isnt an option and not the upcoming spirit as that holds between backups.

If anyone can help id be most greatful.
