I have a 32GB iPhone 3GS that I plan on selling once I buy an iPhone 4, probably in a couple months. My iPhone 3GS is on 3.1.3 already, and I realize that affects its re-sale value on the secondary market (jailbreak/unlock) at present. I'd like to upgrade to iOS4 on Monday, but I may not if it will affect the phone's re-sale value further. Is there any advantage to staying at 3.1.3?

if your not going to sell it for another couple of months, then I say upgrade to iOS 4 for your pleasure, and I'm sure that in a couple of months they're will be a jailbreak available for it.

I believe you would profit more if it was Unlocked (not just jailbroken)

The dev team has already said there is a jailbreak and unlock
for the new OS they just haven't released it because they don't
want apple to patch it before it's released.

So I would say resell value will increase by installing OS4
as it will soon be unlockable
