Checking out the features and toys of the new iPhone, I stumbled upon an oddity -- it seems that some of the videos I shot from the phone, were (according to the Places feature) actually recorded somewhere off the coast of Africa.

No big deal, certainly not a show stopper, just thought it was amusing enough to share.

Your phone was previously used in a Nigerian 409 scam :D

How in the flyvver do they stay in business? Are there *THAT* many people with money dumb enough to send it to a "prince of Nigeria"?

You didn't give the geolocation time enough to hone in closer on your device.

That's an interesting theory. I wonder how much time it would take. I got the phone on Thursday, took these videos on Saturday. Do you have a cite for a time or resting period needed for it to "hone in"?

how do I geotag the pics I take? When I got my phone on launch day it did it automatically

now it doesnt seem to do it, where do I turn it on at?

I guess that the coordinates of that pin are 0°N, 0°E
that makes me think that it was a camera.app bug that failed to retrieve the coordinates from the gps sensor

If geolocation doesn't find you it just won't save a place.

On the other hand, that place in Africa is 0N0E, so yeah, as said, it must have been a bug or glitch.

I noticed that any saved images from the web or from emails that have the geo-location tag enabled will do this. I first saw it and wondered why I had a pin in AK, then I saw a picture I saved... That's about the only thing that ever made sense to me...
