no there is no hack or faker out there that will trick a app to be supported on a non supported firmwares. there are some firmware update hacks but all they do is trick itunes so you didn't accidentally update firmware. Sorry either have to decide not to run the app or update. I guess you could email the devs and ask them to support your firmware version.
first of all I meant "faker" (bad day for spelling I guess)
and I need it for my 1st gen Ipod (i know I realize this is the iphone area, but if I asked this in the ipod touch area it would take days to even get one answer)
anyway a app I want requires IOS 4 however I can't install IOS 4 on a 1st gen (pretty sure I can't at least)

There is no way to run iOS 4 apps on iOS 3. If you try, the iDevice will crash and restart itself. Why? Because the app calls upon things that don't exist and thus causes iOS to crash.
