iOS4 on 3gs blacks out when calling

whenever i make a call on my 3gs the screen blacks out and the only way to hang up is to use the sleep button and to see my screen again i have to fiddle around with sleep/home button. kind of irritating..

anybody have any solutions? sorry if this has been discussed before (i'm sure it has), i did a google search on this and the people on the apple forums didn't find a solution. if there's another thread feel free to point me in the right direction!

so is that my actual phone screwing up or is that because of the os? I had no problems with this until iOS4
