Just because they are resetting iCloud does not mean GM. It's very possible that something fundamental changed or they want to test the new beta with a fresh iCloud. We usually don't see a GM until a few hours after the official event and usually a week before the new device launches.

We're skipping Beta 8 and going from 7 to GM on October 4th. I'm so excited I can't hardly even wait.

Why is everyone stuck on this October 4th thing? What makes this alleged date so much better than all of the other dates that websites have thrown out there??

Because the source is most likely an intentional leak from Apple to calm the masses until invites go out.

i was thinking what if we do see a beta 8? there goes the GM version on oct 4 and no annoucement or invites soon? 🙁 that would suck!
