I dont think the repeat message is what is being talked about here.

I have the same issue. When I receive a new text, Phone alert goes off, screen is blank for a second, than a second alert about 2-3 seconds later and it appears on the screen. My repeat alert in settings is set to none.

This is new for me with the iOS5 GM.

Same. Mine is slightly different though. I get a txt come in and my phone tries to play the txt alert twice asif I was receiving 2 messages simultaneously. This is not the case though I go to txt and there is only 1. Weird.

Happens to me too. But then I get another notification a few minutes later if I don't touch the phone (with repeat alert on).

I believe this is how it is supposed to work, right? It seems that with iOS 5.0 text messages get two vibrations and other alerts - such as a mail message - get one. I guess that way you can tell whether you are receiving a text message or a different kind of alert when the phone is in your pocket.

I don't think it is supposed to work that way. I never have to worry about whether it is a text, email, or voicemail as they all are different sounds. Playing it twice in quick succession is not going to make it sound any more different than it already is. It's more misleading because I think there are two texts coming in at once. God forbid that does happen I get a cacophony of alerts.

Ohh, that's weird. The two vibrations vs. one is accurate, but the two audible alerts isn't.
