Hey, I know there have been a few threads pertaining to/addressing this issue, but the proposed solution doesn't help me.

Ever since upgrading to iOS5, I'm unable to sync my custom ringtones with my iPhone 4.

The proposed solution is to uncheck the Sync Ringtones box, sync the iPhone, and then re-check and re-sync. I don't have that box checked; I assumed it was because I'm a Windows user, but any attempt to check the Sync Ringtones box results in iTunes wanting to totally remove all music etc. from my iPhone...once I thought "Surely not," and gave it a try, and sure enough it wiped me.

Is there any alternative? I hope this is a glitch they correct in the near future; it makes me a very sad panda. :(

I am having the very same problem. I am syncing from my Macbook Pro, and the ringtones get put into a general Songs lists, but not into the proper Ringtone folder on the phone where they can then be selected for contacts.

There must be a way to get our personal ringtones onto this new 4S.

Can anyone suggest a new solution?

Thanks.
