My iPad has a dead strip in the digitizer (touch screen) above the home button, and the home button does not work. It is a 2. The spot and home button issue is a problem with the motherboard.

Lo and behold, I update last night, and I'm presented with "slide to configure." No problem. As usual I simply rotate away from the dead strip.

Nothing happens.

Any ideas on how to get around this? I tried syncing. Itunes happily informed me that my device had the latest software and have a nice day. I tried changing some of the accessibility options.

Zoom was promising as I could have zoomed a portion of the slider into live glass, but this screen responds to no commands other than at the slider.

I also tried yelling at it. It didn't even really relieve much stress. :(
