Put me in the Underwhelmed category in terms of initial reaction to iOS6, especially Maps and Siri which are both shoddy, unfinished products.

There are some positives so far for me though.

Panorama on iPhone impressed me more than any of those similar stitching apps ever have. My first effort out of the box was taken in my lounge in not especially great light. The keep the arrow on the line mechanism is simple and it looks a decent end result, at least on my iPhone which does flatter all photos.

Shared Photo Stream is simple to work and intuitive to use. Nicely done that.

Clock app on iPad. Not beautiful but passable cosmetically, some decent and practical functionality for the iPad like Alarm and Timer.

Hopefully I will encounter other positives but these are my best ones so far. Anyone else?

I love that when you update or download an app in the App Store it doesn't bounce you out of the store like it used to. I'm sure there will be times when I'd like it to take me out of there but for now, I really like that addition.

Do not disturb

iCloud sync keyboard shortcuts

The history menu in the iTunes store

You can rearrange reminders

App store nolonger asks for password to update or download previously purchased apps

Auto brightness seems to work better

App Store has its own search section

Instant access to Bluetooth

Seems slightly quicker (time will tell)

I am not sure why they have not publicized this with the release but it appears that ios 6 has delta updates for apps. I updated all of my apps on my ipad after updating to ios 6 and two of the updates where garageband and iphoto and those two apps alone would have taken me more than an hour to update but after starting the updates and checking back about 15 minutes later all 12 updates had finished downloading.

They did mention background downloads

Definitely loving the revamp of the iTunes store, and that I can now search for places (using Siri) in Canada. Also, the panoramic feature on the camera is pretty cool

As ive mentioned on other threads the blue hue on my 4s looks richer to me and not as washed out after my update.

+ Do not disturb
+ Songs as alarms
+ Better sharing menus, as in icons are displayed instead of text
+ Updating apps without passwords
+ Faster and smoother animations

- Absolutely shockingly awful Maps
- App store is far worse
- Music app looks far less attractive, I preferred the dark theme.
- Passbook is utterly worthless.

Overall, I'd say some good small additions, but some huge steps backward. This should have been called iOS 5.2 to be honest.

Photostream sharing .... This will be used a lot. Worked flawless when I tested it. I think it's down at the moment tho.
