Never mind - it was a user error!

By default - mails are not displayed int eh NC / Lock screen, etc. Need to turn it on in Notifications, under the settings menu.
 
Works fine for me on all of my devices. Make sure your notifications are turned on correctly.
 
Edited my post - was my own issue - not turning the notification on.

glad you got it working. its the first thing i do when i set up a new phone. i dont know why they just dont have it on by default.
