The camera viewer is too small and viewing photos on screen too. IOS7 is meant to make the phone screen seem larger but makes it seem smaller.

It puzzles me why they would take away the full 4" screen view finder?

Are you talking about like the black bars that say the stuff like video, photo, and square and have like the HDR and flash and camera switching options?
 
This has been bugging me as well. I like the how the lower part is but they could have shortened it and I am crying my eyes out because of the space taken by the upper part of the camera looks. I liked how the buttons were see-through yet quite noticeable in iOS 6. I think there is a lot of room for improvement in the camera design.

They said the OS made better use of the 4" screen which is not true. Others agree.

I get the impression IOS7 is the bench mark for a larger and wider Iphone.
 
Yes it makes it seem centred now prob looks worse on a 3.5" screen on iphone 4.

Yeah it looks bad when you are about to take a picture. But it also takes what is underneath those bars after you take the picture
