Alright, I could not find a solution that worked or was at least clear to me here, but I need to change my IP address. I am running 10.4.11, I have Comcast, I am on a laptop getting my internet through an airport base station. and I am fairly sure I have a static IP address. Unplugging my router and modem or renewing my dhcp lease both do nothing to change my IP address. The whole solution via the terminal has been very poorly explained in every instance I have seen it posted and thus I have had no success with that option. If this terminal ifconfig option ends up not working, would comcast be able to assign a new IP?

I'm really not that bad with computers, but when it comes to internet connection issues, I'm usually perplexed as the issues are always meant to be implemented by professionals.
