Tahoe broke my IP printers

I have a Mac at work and for years have been able to print to various Kyocera printers using their IPs and adding them under "HP Jetdirect." I just upgraded to Tahoe and now that functionality is totally broken. My computer can still see the printers and their supply levels, but now they just stay in the queue in the printing app. It says "Stopped, \[my username\]. "Filter" failed, 1 page, 1 copy."

Any ideas how to get this working again?

exactly the same happened for me, I downloaded / installed the latest Kyocera drivers (macOS 12 or later)
version 2024.05.16
when installing it stated it was referred to as "Kyocera OS X 10.9+ Web build 2024.05.16.pkg"
when installed, the printer driver version shows as 10.4
the latest install made no difference, LPD still gives the Stopped, "Filter" failed message.
quite impressive that it has upported macOS 10.9+, but obviously need a new version for tahoe.

they had other installers, "Web Installer 2.0.15.0.dmg", but it ends up installing the same driver

This happened to me as well for a Kyocera ECOSYS P6035cdn printer. I am using a 16-inch MacBook Pro M4 Max 2024 that I just upgraded to macOS 26. The recommendation to perform a clean install did not resolve the issue. Instead, I removed the printer with the "filter failed" error. I then re-added it using the printer's IP address, used LPD for the protocol, and chose "Select Software" for the driver. In my case, I searched for the driver titled "Kyocera Generic Color A4 PCL" and selected it. Once added, I sent a test print to confirm the new configuration works. Good luck!🤞

thanks Jonny, that worked for me as well and gives me basic printing functionality.
I don't get access to features (Kycocera TASKalfa 5054ci KPDL) like double-sided or alternate paper-feeds but it's a start.
Interestingly, I tried Kyocera Generic PDF and it failed with the filter error as well (as it Generic Postscript, Generic PCL).
Hopefully Kyocera or Apple fix this up soon.

Hi
I got a temp solution from Triumph-Adler support (Machine produced on the same factory as Kyocera). It is a premission error.
Search for Print Panel
Open the panel program where you can set defaults for the print cue.

Mark one of the printers
Press Apply
Press Allow in the popup window “data access”
Press ok

You can now print from programs.

It is not possible to print a test page from the menu Printer > Print test page this will still fail.

Best

Trying to figure out what would be the best way to rectify this when using PaperCut and an MDM.

THANK YOU!!!! This fixed my printer error issue since I installed Tahoe.

This worked for me as well. I'm now struggling to get the Kyocera Print Panel to work with printing presets in the Mac dialog box. My workaround for now is to create multiple iterations of the same printer and use CUPS to set default options for each one, and then choosing which one to print to based on which default options I want.
