I just recently purchased an IP16P and was wondering is there a way to enable the tap or double tap in order to lock the screen?

I managed to set the tap function to wake the phone, but I also need to do this to Lock the screen / phone.

Is there a way to do this?

Please explain in detail.

Thanks in advance

I dont remember exactly but when i had my iPhone 14 Pro I was able to just tap the screen and my iPhone would lock.
Maybe I am wrong...Dont recall this. Maybe the Tap tp Wake function works to see just briefly view the Lock Screen.

But I really wish to know if there is a feature on the iPhone 16 Pro that when has a function called Tap to Lock iPhone.

I dont really want to use the side power button to lock the phone all the time.

You can do this by using Assistive Touch, but then you will have a round white icon on the screen at all times. You can set the function to lock the screen once you tap that icon.

Settings - Accessibility - Touch - Assistive Touch toggle On, and then below that you have one / two tap and long tap, choose which one you want and select the option to Lock the Screen which is located just above the Apple Pay option lower on the list.

Thanks.

Is that all there is only with that round looking circle?
There is no other way?

If not, then no biggy. I will then just use a side power button to lock the phone

Unless someone else has some suggestions.

Yes, under
Settings
Accessibility
Touch
Back touch

you can set a double back tap to lock the screen. I use this feature a lot of times 👍

Thanks.

I don't know how it would work otherwise, you need to have a visible target on the screen to tap to lock.
Like Jutah said, the other option is backtap, but that is not tapping the screen but the back of the phone.
