I'm having a weird problem with the my iphone 4 headphones. 2 Situations so far:

1. I plugged in the headphone and I can listen to music. However I can't change volume, pause/play, or fast forward/reverse. I unplug and plug it back in, everything works.

2. I plugged in the headphone and I can listen to music. I can adjust volume and pause/play. However, I can't fast forward and reverse. I unplug and plug it back in, everything works again.

Is this a problem with the headphone or with the 3.5mm jack? Maybe one of the contact is not sharp?

Take it into the apple store. If you can reproduce the problem, they'll replace them for free.
