I am living in Japan, but I have just used my families upgrade in America to get an IP4. Phone came off backorder and will arrive at my families house in America tomorrow. My question is as follows, I know the IP4 bought in America is region locked to AT&T. Is it possible that if my family member activates the phone with their SIM and send me the phone I will be able to place my Softbank SIM in the phone and use it. Or like this article suggest: http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/30/buying-an-iphone-4-from-a-canadian-carrier-its-locked/
"We've now confirmed that the lock is happening at the time the phone is activated -- in other words, it begins life carrier-agnostic. Pretty wild stuff."
Will that process lock the phone to AT&T. And one last question how about this software > http://iphone.unlock.no/
