Hey

Switched to the iphone 4s on verizon about 2 weeks ago from sprint (was a mistake to be with them).

Anyways, I've noticed that I have very poor 3g connections and slow data speeds. Much worse than when I was with att (using an iphone 4 and 3g). I'm guessing the circle in the data bar at the top indicates edge network? if so, I'm on edge much too often.

Is this a problem with verizon or the 4s??

If you're seeing dl speeds as fast as 2.4mbps, you're very lucky to be in a fast area.

Its not the speed as much as the horrible reception the phone has. I live in NYC and it seems I'm always on the edge network.

edit: finally able to download speed test.

0.11 Mbps down and 0.01 Mbps up. Thats really bad.

Updated the PRL as well.

Those are very edge level speeds. If you're outside you should have a better signal versus inside a concrete building. I'm in DC and I get edge in my office but 3G outdoors at usually 2mbps. I guess you can try *228 options 1 and 2 to see if that helps.

Ummm, Verizon doesn't use Edge.

I don't know what Edge network you're talking about, since that's not Verizon. And I get terrific reception on my Verizon 4s in New York City. Where are you?

I have Verizon, and although I dont use 3G a whole lot, it doesn't seem horribly slow. I guess it just depends on where you are.

I think wifi spoils us. It would be nice if 3G were as fast as wifi.

The DSL wifi at my work is only around 1 to 1.5mbps.
My AT&T is always faster than that. At least 3mbps or higher.
So 3G is as fast and sometimes faster than some wifi connections.
