withdrawn - thought there was a way to run update without hooking to itunes, but apparently not.

You should be able to do an OTA update without iTunes or anything like that.

Agreed; however, the option disappeared when I did not click on it the first time as I was in a meeting at work and did not want to have phone unavailable during the eventual restart.

Settings, General, Software Update. Does it not show there?
