Just curious. The iPhone 7 Plus has the 1x and 2x optical lenses and I know how they work by just tapping on the small icon to change lenses, AND I know how the "digital" zoom works by dragging the slider all the way to the right to obtain a 10x zoom.

So my question is...the zoom between 1x and 2x...is that digital or optical?

That's a switch between two physical lenses.

Digital. The 2x zoom isn't optical per-se either, rather it uses a completely different sensor and lens combination.

Also, the 2x zoom isn't always using the telephoto lens/sensor either. In some situations it will choose to use the primary camera + software zoom.
