I have an iPad 1 (i also have the 3 and 4, I'm not old school:) that I am trying to gift away. When I booted it up I now see a black screen. I do not think it is dead pixels because it sometimes turns colored lines and the box can get smaller or larger...HELP!

I tried to restore from iTunes but it did not work and there are no updates, last update is 5.1.1

Might be worth having Apple take a look at it if a store is close to you.
They're likely to replace it (don't know exactly what they charge) with a refurbished.

That's what I feared...I could probably buy a refurb iPad 2 for the price of the genius bar replacement.
