iPad 1 can't sync

I tried to sync my iPad this morning with iTunes, but every time I plug it in iTunes crashes and gives me the spinning beach ball. The iPad never actually connects to iTunes. I am running Lion and the latest update of iTunes. The iPad is running 4.3.3. I have tried reauthorizing the computer and reauthorizing it and it still crashes iTunes. Any ideas? I am leaving town for a week tonight and I can't get my content to my iPad!

OK, just realized that it also hangs when I plug in my iPhone 3GS... I have no idea whats going on. Both devices were able to be synced before updating to Lion perfectly fine. Anyone else having an issue like this?
