I've been trying to downgrade my iPad 1 to a lower iOS because iOS 5 is pretty bad on it.

I reinstalled Cydia today and realized that I have iOS 4.3.3 and iOS 5.1.1 SHSH saved.

Does that mean I can downgrade to iOS 4.3.3?

Have iTunes 11 and Windows 7.

Thanks!

Sweet.

Was able to downgrade to 4.3.3, iPad 1 runs hella better although I forgot some apps require iOS 5 now like iWork.

Either way.

Thanks a lot for that link!

I have a 64GB iPad 1 with jailbroken 5.1.1 and it runs fine. Why?

I'd also be curious, for the opposite reason. My iPad 1 has been on JB'd 4.3.3 for over a year and is acting like it's time for a clean restore (slower than dirt, app crashes, etc.) Given how many apps require 5.1+, it seems like staying on 4.3.3 would be a bad move, so I'd love to hear what you've observed on both.

Although I had iOS 5.1.1 stock for a long time, I noticed more and more apps requiring either iOS 6 or having at least an iPad 2 or running really slow/crashing.

I've seen more and more apps being redesigned to take advantage of newer devices specs (ex. Evernote).

I wanted these apps to run better/crash less so I did a fresh restore (maybe about 15 times in the past 2 months), disabled iCloud, multitasking gestures, etc. but none of them worked.

Downgrading to iOS 4.3.3 I have to say I truly felt the speed coming back in my iPad 1. Noticed a big difference in Safari/Mail, iTunes/App Store, and games like Infinity Blade.

Using old versions of apps like iWork, Evernote, iBooks, etc. I noticed a big difference in loading times.

It just seems iOS 5 wasn't build for the iPad 1 that or 256MB RAM is just too little for what I need.

I'm waiting out for the iPad5/iPad Mini later this fall. If I get enough money I will probably upgrade. I think 3-4 years for a tablet cycle it about right.

Well, crap. Not what I hoped to hear as I really don't want to spend the money on a new one just yet. But good information to know, thanks for posting your experiences.

help me - newb

hey guys

i'm a newb to jailbreaking, downgrading and the whole works. I have done alot of reading on the web as i wanted to downgrade my iPad 1, running iOS 5.1.1 to 4.3.x. Doing this because it is just so slow, and nowadays i really just use the iPad for simple web browsing, so don't need any of the fancy appz and stuff that may require higher OSes.

There are alot of things that say I need a backed up SHSH BLOB for the version I want to downgrade to. No idea if I have that. Not even sure I still own the mac that I used to upgrade this device to iOS5 in the first place.

I've seen a number of suggestions to download iFaith, MacKeeper, Cydia, IPSW downloaded, but I just am uncertain about all of this.

Can anyone provide me guidance specific to what I need to do?

i.e. Downgrade tethered/non-jailbroken ipad 1 from iOS 5.1.1 to 4.3.5 without any SHSH blob backups.

thanks

If you don't have blobs you can't downgrade.

Is the iPad jailbroken or stock?

Is it is stock and never jailbroken then you can't get them, else Cydia might have a copy.

You can jailbreak it, but you cannot go back.

You can only get blobs when Apple is signing the software.
