Hi.

Anyone know what the message "NI_InHouseGenericProfile will expire in 3 days" means on a 1st gen iPad?

I only found one hit on google, and it's someone asking the same question, with no answer!

Do you know what the implications are if I do nothing? Or what action should I take to renew the current profile (whatever it is)?

That profile belongs to one of your apps and it's about to expire. If it's a developer profile (i.e. you were beta testing an app for someone) they only last three months. In this case, contact the person who gave you the beta app. If it's an enterprise profile (i.e. an app your company gave you) they only last one year. In this case, contact your IT department.
