My iPad 1 running iOS 4.3.1 and jailbroken was running VERY slow with multitasking enabled. Basically, it would take FOREVER for apps to resume (had the multitasking gestures enabled as well) because the memory management system wasn't emptying out memory quickly enough. Also, because of this, my apps would crash constantly since memory wasn't available quickly enough, even when I wasn't app switching and such running an app like Safari. I re-sprung, rebooted, took off all of my hacks, everything, until I pinpointed that multitasking was the culprit.

From there, I decided to disable it in the K48AP .plist and give the iPad a go without it. I also decided to install Backgrounder to background apps I'd like to keep open when I use them (like Pandora). I can say that I am SO GLAD i've done so! Because of the A4 processor, opening apps is no sweat and especially faster than waiting so long for apps to resume using multitasking. My iPad also doesn't start to slow down anymore after heavy use for a couple of days.

Now, installing iOS 4.3.3 and setting up as a new device may very well fix all of this, but I have so many files loaded on my iPad and I use it for school every day (even using it now to read textbooks from Kindle to write essays this weekend), so I don't have much time to restore and load everything back on.

I just wanted to tell everyone just in case you have the same problem with your iPad 1. This seems to be the best solution if restoring isn't an option at the moment. Thanks y'all!
