iPad 1 sluggish on ios5?

I heard that the iPad 1 used to be faster without ios5. I have not sen this because when I got the iPad 1, I got it late and it shipped with ios5. Is it likely that there will be an update making it less sluggish?

It is sluggish on iOS 5.

On iOS 5.1 however, it runs quite well. No more crashes in Safari etc anymore, and rarely is anything force closed.

My iPad 1s performance is extreremely poor on ios5. Apps crash every few minutes, and evything overall is slower. iOS 4 was much better, and ios3 was ever better then that. If I could, I would certainly go back to ios4, but stupid apple won't allow it. Now I have a useless pile of garbage. I'm am guessing apple won't fix it, as they are likely hoping you will upgrade to a new device.
