Ipad 2 3G: Activation with Itunes without SIM card

Hey everyone,
Just picked up an ipad 2 3G+wifi... I don't have the sim card yet and was wondering if it is possible to activate the ipad 2 without the sim card. I tried plugging it in to the computer and using Itunes but it doesn't seem to let me activate so i can start syncing my music/contacts/apps etc... Sorry i'm new at this.. any help is appreciated.

what country are you in? In the USA, it comes with an AT&T SIM preinstalled

It activates fine without a SIM. If your having troubles. I suggest rebooting your computer and if that fails try a restore.
