I was running my iPad on 4.3.3, jailbroken, blobs saved with Cydia and locally etc etc etc. I decided to get rid of the jailbreak because I was travelling overseas and I didn't want to chance instability while I wasn't near my computer for a fresh restore. I am now missing the flexibility the jailbreak provided (that's always the way!) so I want to get it back.

Looking at the downgrade options I'm confused as to whether or not the window is still open for going back to 4.3.3 from 4.3.5 on a 3G iPad 2.

This link says as long as 4.3.5 is still signed, if you have the blobs (which I do) it is okay, but it adds "it might not work now."

Another link says 4.3.4, but it was posted before 4.3.5 came out so I'm not sure if the baseband stopped getting signed then or what.

Basically, am I still able to downgrade?

Short answer is "no". With iPad 2 3G, when you upgraded to 4.3.5, you upgraded the baseband as well. Right now, there is no way to downgrade the baseband. So, you are stuck with 4.3.5 for now!

So it was 4.3.5 that updated the baseband, and not 4.3.4? The comment in the devteam blog article was confusing and conflicting.

I'm downloading the ipsw at the moment but it's excruciatingly slow, if it's not going to work I might as well not bother but I want to be sure before I give it up.

Either version will upgrade the baseband. Once the baseband version goes up with a firmware update, such as with 4.3.4, Apple certainly doesn't roll it back again with the next one.

You're out of luck, sorry. Next time--if there IS a next time, since they have no usable exploits right now for the iPad 2--don't upgrade if the jailbreak is important to you. If you don't bog it down with too many frivolous tweaks or with pirated, buggy apps, a jailbroken iPad or iPhone is no less stable than a stock one. Be selective about what you install and it's a non issue.

That's the part I'm confused about, because the dev team's jailbreak Q&A seems to contradict that.

If you have jailbroken your device before: you may be able to work around this system and restore to an earlier version, especially if you've used Cydia within the past few months, because opening Cydia automatically saves currently-available firmware signature files (also called "SHSH blobs") from Apple. Exception: you can only downgrade a GSM or CDMA iPad 2 for a limited time (while 4.3.5 is still the latest version of iOS), and it may not work even now.

It's that last bit I'm unsure about, since the comment makes it sound like it's not the version of the firmware that is important, but whether or not Apple has pulled some unknown plug.

I'd really rather not attempt the restore first to confirm if I can or can't, since that will require restoring and resyncing everything again afterward in case it doesn't downgrade, so I guess I'm asking if anyone has managed to go from 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 with a 3G iPad 2 anytime recently.

accord to wiki's ios version number page here apple did not update the baseband on the 3G iPad2. So you should be able to use your SHSH blob to downgrade it to 4.3.3.

It only become impossible to downgrade the iPad2 if you have moved to the iOS5 beta which does include a new baseband, I think.

Hello,
I was on 4.3 ipad 2 3g with leaked jailbreak. In order to use the camera connection kit updated to 4.5 with saved 4.3.3 blobs. I am trying to downgrade to 4.3.3 and the itunes gives error and hungs. I read many tutorials with change of hosts via notepad, i can't get it. C:confused:an you please help me?

I am already on 4.3.3 and want to restore back to 4.3.3. Is it possible?? I want to do this because something has gone wrong with my iPad and is eating battery like anything.

I have iPad 2, 3G..

Please reply fast as I might have only a day till apple releases iOS 5 and I might not be able to do it.

I did it . Was so happy when I could. My advice to 4.3.3 users. If u have SHSH blobs saved and having some issues with 4.3.3. It might the last few days u can restore. After apple stops signing 4.3.5, it's the end of the road.

Please correct me if I'm wrong of course....but if you are on 4.3.3 and have your SHSH blobs saved, you should always be able to restore to 4.3.3 for as long as you have access to the 4.3.3 IPSW.

It's only if you upgrade past 4.3.3 and try to revert is when it causes issues when attempting to downgrade.

I believe the answer to that is yes and no. Maybe I am wrong, but you can downgrade if you have a WiFi only iPad2, but if you have a 3G iPad2 (like I do), you cannot downgrade currently even if you have SHSH blobs saved.
