My searching skills on both The Google and this website must be poor. I haven't had any luck on doing a search to find any apps…games, movie players, whatever…that output 1080p from the iPad 2 to an HDTV.

I already have RealRacing 2, and it works & looks great on an HDTV. What I'm looking for is a list, or at least a webpage or something, that shows what App Store apps support 1080p out (besides RR2).

Anyone have a link or a good source go share?

Here is a complete list:

1. Real Racing 2

that is all (at the moment).

Haha, ok so maybe my search skills aren't that awful.

Sheesh, would've thought apps like VLCStreamer or other video apps would get their…stuff…in gear & get some updates out. But I'm not a developer. Must be a tough thing to do I guess.

So the app will be stretched to fit the screen (like ipod apps on an ipad) then you are saying. Thinking of getting the cable to play some games on my TV that's why I'm curious.

I don't have the AV digital adapter, but I would assume that everything will output in 1024x768 unless they support 1080p (like Real Racing 2). Outputting 1024x768 on a 1080p TV will look like this.

Correct, I have the HDMI adapter cable (but not Real Racing 2) and everything is mirrored in a 4:3 aspect ratio like the imaged above except for Apps and Movies that are supported in a 16:9 aspect ratio, then those are mirrored accurately on the TV (without black bars on each side).

Yep, same here. But in my case, nearly all apps are 4:3.
I have tried mirroring both apps and movies out using the HDMI dongle on both a Westinghouse 720p flat screen TV and a 42" Hitachi 1080i TV and in both cases, mirroring the iPad showed black bars on both sides, regardless of what I was doing, except when playing Real Racing HD on both TV's; then the game fills the screen perfectly.

What about Keynote presentations? Do those display in 4:3 or 16:9?

My movies are mirrored Full Screen in 16:9 aspect ratio, so thats strange that the same doesn't happen for you.

I don't have Keynote on my iPad so I can't say I know for sure, but I have heard others say that it is mirrored Full Screen (no black bars).

This thread got me thinking. I know what was wrong with my video. I was playing an old Sliders TV episode, which was displaying out 4:3. Played another "newer" video (as in something less than 15 years old) and it displays 16:9. :D
