Ipad 2 Backlight Issue

Hey guys, first post

I'm trying to repair an Ipad2 for my neighbor after his kid dropped if while getting out of the car. Obviously the digitizer needs to be replaced.

However after firing it up, I noticed that all along the left side there's an issue with the backlighting, what I call a "flashlighting effect". Does this mean the LCD was damaged as well?

Appreciate the assistance!
