I'm not denying its true because I gave up on iMovie due to the slow speed on my Macbook Pro. But is it really an accurate comparison since they're not really the same app?

this is the correct answer. different OS and different type of apps.
 
the ipad uses flash memory too, so is it really fair? The macbooks have the HD limiting the speed they can grab the files.
