Okay so I'm going to get the iPad 3 but I really want an iPad...NOW!

If I buy the iPad 2 from Apple will I be able to exchange/return it for the iPad 3 if it's within 30 days?

If you want an ipad NOW, and you want to be ethical about it, buy a used ipad2 on Craigslist, then resell it after you've bought an ipad3.

Ethical? I have no problem with someone buying one then returning it. Is it ethical for these companies to know that the new product is coming out in a few days and still let people buy the old product at full price?

Yes it 100% ethical.

Agreed it is a market strategy, thats all. The OP knows one is coming so they should be patient and just wait for it. Buying an iPad 2 then returning it for an iPad 3 is taking advantage of the system. Things like that will make Apple bring back the 10% restocking fee.

as tempted as i am to do the same thing as the OP, it just doesn't feel right. I can be patient for just a little longer...

Also, I was thinking about it, what about the risk? Its Murphy's Law... What can go wrong will. Within the 2 weeks of owning it, you could drop it and damage it. Then you are stuck with it.

You could also cross the street and be hit by a car. Besides, if you pay with certain "better" credit cards your covered for 90 days for accidental damage.

Just wait, dude.

Seriously, there's no need to buy an iPad 2 right now.

Save the hassle of looking for a used one, buying a new one, syncing your media, growing fond of the sweet little device for when the next iPad comes out. Trust me you'll need a few reserves of energy to combat the crazy lines, predictable low stock, the exasperation that comes with waiting for your iPad to be shipped, and possibly having to wait outside of your local store consecutive days after the launch just to snag one.

Wait. It will be worth it. :)

Still couldn't return it and would be out the money until you got a replacement. Then on top of that you would be selling it for a much cheaper price after the iPad 3 launches.

The whole point of my post with Murphy's Law is if you are going to try to take advantage of a system, chances are it may backfire and you'll be screwed.

Regardless it’s wrong to use an item to know you are going to just return it because you are impatient.
