Are they both running same iOS versions?

I only see a slight color difference. My eyes would get used to this very quickly.

why are they different though? is it considered a defect?
did apple change something in the manufacturing..?

just like the iPhone 4. my phone's coller and wife's warmer.

i prefer the warmer look since it's easier on the eyes, especially on the iPad because the screen is big. too bad my iPad 2 has a cooler look too :(

Mine is cooler, and I purchased it yesterday.

Love It way more than the warmer look.

And it did come with 431

Looks different

I don't buy this pic, look how dim the battery percentage is on the right!!!!
Looks like a bad pic!!!! Switch sides and take a new pic!!!!

Turn off auto brightness and try again. Duh

I don't think it has anything to do with being a launch day vs new iPad, it's just variation in parts. If you went to a store and bought a decent sampling of iPads you'd probably find that some had cooler screens and some had warmer screens.

Just like iPhone

It is definitely just like the iPhone so get used to it like one of the devious posts said. You could always return until you get a cooler screen. Me and my wife are definitely opposite now...

Me - iPhone 4 (cooler screen) iPad 2 (warmer screen)

Wife - iPhone 4 (warmer screen) I pad 2 (cooler screen)

Go fig... If her iPad wasn't from her work I would switch them without her knowing :D since I like the cooler screen look.

Considering Apple trying to keep up with demand it's very likely the screens are from two different manufacturers. Not a real shocker there.

Got mine from Target about a week ago and its on the cool side which I prefer. The yellow reminds me of an old CRT screen about to blow that's been in a smoker's office for a few decades.

Yup exactly how my friend and I looks but I have the Verizon which I got at target 3 weeks ago and he just got his today which is an AT&T one...

My first two iPad 2's were like that, they had a very unpleasant yellow tint, when put beside my old original iPad it was obvious.

I returned my first iPad 2 and was given a new one, that one had exactly the same problem, so I went back to the Apple store intending to get a refund and wait a month or so to see if the new stock did not have the yellow tint.

One of the Apple staff said they had just got a new batch in, so they might not have the yellow tint, so they opened a new one up and compared it to the one I was returning, and the new one did not have the yellow tint, so I accepted it as a replacement.

Comparing it to my original iPad, the colour is virtually the same and I'm very happy with it, so it was a case of third time lucky for me.

Auto Brightness should be off (as someone else mentioned) when you're doing side by side comparisons.

Sometimes there is a burn in period for LED's to reach normal operating brightness, and for adhesives to reach maximum transparency.

It is possible that there is a batch of lower quality screens, a defective unit, or screens made by a different manufacturer to a different spec.

This screen shot doesn't really give us much info though. Give the new one a week of normal usage, turn auto brightness off, then compare them again.

I'd be interested to see if there is still such a difference.

tut, what ever. its the same os version 4.3.1 and all settings are the same, the right one looks dull and yellow all the time.
