Would have been great if they could make some sort of "mouse" pointer come up on the screen when the HDMI cable is connected, some sort of dot or something so you could use it without having to look down at the iPad itself...use it like a giant trackpad.

Wouldn't be possible with HDMI alone. Could be if there was some sort of TV software that could support such an action.

Why wouldn't it be possible? The pointer would show up on the iPad screen...and hence on the TV screen. It could automatically show up when it detects that it's been connected via HDMI.

you have a good point! iPad need to become a controller some how with pointer. Otherwise U can't really play game on TV, since you still have to look at the iPad not TV.

But it is still good for everything else, like presentation, video and photo...

HDMI is just a series of cables that connects a visual display with a machine of some type. I was saying that the HDMI couldn't do this alone, it would need some kind of software, either on the TV or the machine source, to do it.

Its good for racing games too! :D Well, if you have auto acceleration and auto braking on, so you don't have to touch anything on the screen...just steer..
