Ipad 2 JB 4.3.3 ----> ios 5.xx

Hello there...

I have a jailbroken ipad 2 , ios 4.3.3.. I want to upgrade to a JB 5.xx version and would like to know what is the best/easiest way to do it.

Actually, I dont really need a JB ipad... But I like to use iconoclasm and shrink to fit more apps in the screen...also infinidock to have more apps on the dock...

If you want to update that to a jailbroken iOS 5, you had better do it very soon. Else, Apple will close the iOS 5.0.1 signing window and then you'll only be able to update to iOS 5.1, which doesn't have any jailbreaks for an iPad 2 at this time. Apple may have already stopped signing iOS 5.0.1.

Well.. I did downgrade from 4.3.5 to 4.3.3 once.. In recovery mode or something... That doesnt work anymore?

What is the best way for the upgrade? Having itunes install the 5.0.1 and jb again?

Does www.jailbreakme.com work for 5.0.1?

Iclarified recommends Absinthe to JB 5.0.1 on mac os...

So should I just upgrade to 5.0.1 and JB again with it?

Then install all cydia apps again?
 
There is no way to downgrade an iPad 2 on iOS 5 firmwares once Apple has stopped signing them, even if you have your SHSH blobs. Only the WiFi iPad 2 model can downgrade to iOS 4.3.X firmwares when Apple isn't signing them anymore. The only way to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on an iPad 2 is by using Absinthe.

Ok..so hoW should I upgrade from 4.3.3 to 5.0.1?

Itunes?
 
Yes, iTunes. Download the 5.0.1 IPSW, press shift (Windows) or Option (Mac) and click Restore, then select the 5.0.1 IPSW and hope that Apple is still signing iOS 5.0.1.
 
if apple is not signing, I will need to upgrade 5.1 and get stuck there till a JB comes up right?
 
If Apple isn't signing, iTunes will tell you that your device isn't eligible for that build. Just unplug your iPad and restart it by holding down both buttons. You'll be back in iOS 4.3.3.
 
I see... I really like to use the tab browsing and be able to create photoalbums, move pics.. I guess I'll upgrade to 5.1 and wait for a JB..

do apply add shrinking or adding more icons to the dock in the ios 5.0.1?
 
it gave me an unknown error 21....

now it went into recovery mode... I try restoring it to 5.1 but itunes crashed!...

it doesnt work..I downgraded to itunes 10.5.3 ...downloaded the 5.1 but now gives the error message saying ipad software update server could not be contacted....
 
Apple is no longer signing iOS 5.0.1. As of now, you can only update that iPad to iOS 5.1.

when did they stop signing 5.0.1 ? I seen a recent post saying they are still signing....
 
Upgrade to iTunes 10.6. You can only go back to 4.3.3 if you are have a wifi only iPad 2. Use TinyUmbrella to go back.

I have wifi ipad 2.... my config was JB 4.3.3 before attempting to upgrade 5.0.1

how do I go back to the original config ? exit recovery ?
 
You could try that, but you'll likely have to restore to 4.3.3. Search the Internet using your favorite search engine for "how to downgrade iPad 2 using TinyUmbrella".
 
I just clicked exit recovery...it worked.. now it is back to normal.. JB 4.3.3..

now my only option is non-JB 5.1 right ? to get a piece of ios 5.xx
 
I just upgraded to 5.1 tonite....without putting the JB 4.3.3 in DFU mode...

Safari browsing speed is incredible... I wish I had done it before... Did it become this fast on ios 5.0, 5.0.1 or the newest 5.1 ?

Wish apple allow resizing the icons and adding more on the dock... Already missed infinidock and shrink...
