Ipad 2 not carrier locked?

Hi i am thinking of getting ipad 2 gsm. Can anyone shed someone shed some light will it be carrier locked cos i will posted to hongkong soon.

Correct. You can use any GSM SIM.

Don't know about the new iPad, but the last one could not use 3G from T-mobile due to it not having the correct frequency. Don't know if this has been fixed or not.

If the issue with T-Mobile was simply a matter of incompatible radio frequency, that has nothing to do with unlock. That's a modem issue.
OP: check the frequencies used by ipad. Compare them to your carrier. If they're compatible, then you should be fine.

I was told it was due to T-Mobile not having micro-SIM cards. You can file them down to make them work.

It (the iPad 1) can work on their network, but only for EDGE data, not 3G.

Can not confirm or deny it but I believe AT & T Model is unlocked:-
